Of Knights & Quests 1st Edition, 1st Update live!


Howdy!

I've just completed the overhaul and tightening of the screws for Of Knights & Quests! This update refines the rules language used, cleans up some concepts, tweaks a few things, and features even more glorious Howard Pyle artwork!

Of note: 

  • Your force of knights is now referred to as a Lance.
  • It should be clearer how large a game is, the maximum number of knights, and how the Initiative Deck works.
  • Models dying no longer removes cards from the Initiative Deck. Models may be activated multiple times in a game round. This helps reduce the death spiral of losing models and thus activations.
  • Regular knights and heroic knights are now simply called Knights and Heroes. Both have 3 Health (renamed from Hit Points) and Knights are better at Doing Something while Heroes are better at Attacking. This carries over into the optional rules for Soldiers, now called Soldiers and Sergeants.
  • Armor now not only provides a Save but adjusts a model's speed. Unarmored models are faster on their feet!
  • Models may choose to leave one hand empty when Wielding, providing a bonus to Doing Something.
  • Wielding may be done as an action, in addition to being done once for free at the start of an activation.
  • The process for Attacking has been revamped and streamlined. Same broad effect but way less clunky.
  • The Quests have been refined in terms of how they are worded.
  • Handling Objects (formerly objectives) is now a general rule rather than a scenario-specific one.
  • Various little tweaks and adjustments for the sake of clarity.
  • More Howard Pyle artwork, some of which is from his Book of Pirates!
