Of Knights & Quests Revised Edition
A downloadable game
Hail and well met!
Of Knights & Quests is a narrative miniatures game wherein players control a noble lance of knights embarking upon perilous quests!
Knights are the well-equipped and noble warrior elite of a given people, whether they are Arthurian knights, German Landsknecht, or fantastic peoples like Elves or Dwarves. The rules are complete in one light book that is formatted to be easy to read. No particular manufacturer's models or figures are required to play, it works with what you have.
This is game is solo-friendly, including an AI system for solo play. Also included is a brief section on adding things like firearms to the game, to better represent more esoteric or later-era forces.
This is the Revised Edition, considered the new standard from which to grow the game! Notable updates include abilities for heroes, a renown system for balancing games, and expanded mount and weaponry rules.
The original two versions of the game are still available for download for posterity, or if you prefer them to the current edition. You'll notice the price has changed: if you are an original purchaser, however, you are unaffected by this! Thank you for your support and good questing!

Can I play solo battles of like elite Samurai vs. Peasant rabble with this? Or is this pure elite vs. elite?
Yes, the game includes a card-driven engine for playing solo or cooperative games versus non-player Lances. You can also use the optional Soldiers & Sergeants rules in the back of the book for less elite forces. To emulate peasant rabble or an angry mob or conscripts, simply use the Soldier stats provided and be sure to give them no armor and only a single weapon like a polearm (pitchforks and shovels) or a single hand weapon (hammers, hatchets, clubs).
Do you have any suggested or preferred miniatures? I feel like GW Brets are an obvious choice, but I unfortunately don't have any...
Bretonnians by GW would be great! I personally have bought a couple of boxes of Northstar Military Figures' Fristgrave Knights, which is a good price for ten plastic knights per box with a more adventurer aesthetic and tons of weapon and customization options.
Perry Miniatures also sells boxes of both foot and mounted knights, with the Agincourt knights being very flexible and extremely affordable.
Lastly, the original rules were written and playtested with 2" tall knight toys bought in a $10 tub!
good call, I’ve been meaning to pick up some Frostgrave stuff, now’s the time! I’ll look at Perry too. GW’s stuff is cost prohibitive, especially since Brets are making their return right now…
Yes, Citadel minis are fantastic, but they really are a large financial investment. Secondhand markets might still be good although current releases have doubtless spiked the prices. The Perry twins sculpted a TON of stuff for Citadel over the years, and their current kits are a bit more realistically proportioned (the weapons are the actual right size but feel weedy), but otherwise it's like working with GW kits again!
Criminally underpriced for the replay value!
Thanks!
