Howdy!

After feedback, writing, playtesting I bring you the definitive vision for Of Knights & Quests. Several things have been updated or cleaned up.

  • A renown system analogous to points in other games to make building your Lance and maintaining the illusion of balance easier.
  • Knights are now knights errant (better at Doing Something) and knights champion (better at Attacking).
  • Heroes now gain a Heroic Ability.
  • Heroes can also now activate on a number card, albeit with only one action for a timely intervention.
  • Kings are upgraded heroes who also gain a Kingly Gift.
  • Rules in general have been rewritten for clarity.
  • Arms and Armor have been expanded and the effects of wielding them are clearer.
  • Critical hits for Attacks now occur on a natural die roll of six.
  • Mounts have been expanded into light, medium, and heavy mounts which have different bonuses to a model's Speed and Health.
  • To mirror the knights, the optional rules for Soldiers have been expanded. Rabble are better at Doing Something; Soldiers are better at Attacking. Both are weaker than knights but can be activated two at a time.
  • Sergeants and Lords are the equivalent of Heroes and Kings and use the same upgrades. They will likely receive more attention in a future supplement.
